Hey guys...check it out.
So I had just gotten home from my night class last night when my sister's boyfriend called me and said that his truck had broken down. Any guesses as to what kind of truck!? A 1994 FORD F350 with a freaking 7.2 Liter Gas V8 in it
Apparently his bearings in the U-joint at the end of his driveshaft went out somehow...I'm assuming they seized due to a lack of maintenance and the fact that it's a 15-year-old Ford. He tried to get the spider disconnected but wasn't able to disconnect it on the driveshaft side (when I got there I looked at it and realized it was machine pressed into the yoke).
The pictures aren't the best but basically here's what went down:
My sister's boyfriend had some sort of a ghetto towing hookup to go from car to car, so we chained it to the frame of his car with loose chains and decided to give it a go. My Tacoma is rated to tow 5,000 pounds, the towing contraption is rated to tow 3,500 pounds, and the weight of the Ford is 9,200 pounds.....so I guess we were testing our luck. We had to tow it about 2 miles and it took us about 20 minutes to do it because we were just babying it across town late at night with him in his truck steering carefully behind me. At the end of the night, we got it to a shop safe and sound and my awesome Japanese truck didn't struggle ONCE!!
