Cheapota

I know that there's alot of Toyota defenders on this board; but in all honesty...how can you defend a company that has to everyone's knowledge gotten cheap over the last 15 years or so...(except maybe Lexus). I'm having to replace my rear leafs because Cheapota is to cheap to do a recall on obviously defective parts...made in some Mexican tortilla shop from recycled Corona beer cans...(at leased they DID something about the frames...) Is everyone getting cheap? Only care about profits and million dollar bonuses? Whether you like Obama or not, he's right about the greed. I've just about had it with Cheapota...only keeping my truck 'cause it's less expensive than replacing it with..........

How many leafs do you have? My 2002 has 4 and I always thought they were pretty strong, especially for a compact truck.

I wont defend Yota.
Their leaf packs are crap. 500lb load capacity? Are they serious?
And don't even mention rack and pinion to me!
But, each brand has their drawbacks, IMO.
All things considered, I'm quite happy with my Yota, and when it's time to park it in the south 40, I'll likely get another Yota.

IMHO the quality of the competition has got close enough to Toyota that they had to start competing on price.

I had the same problem with me truck. Both of my middle leaf springs broke. I think the Toyota Tacoma is the best compact truck out there from 1995.5 to 2004. The only thing my family ever bought was fords but my Tacoma would put a ford ranger or S-10 to shame off road

Not expecting a 1 ton, just reliable Toyota quality...it just isn't there.

obama is ruining this country, IMO.

Eventually, the USA and China will flip their place in the worlds' hierarchy.... America is changing folks, and the majority of Americans voted for it! China will be the world dominating superpower (as we once were) and WE will be the country that every large worldwide company will move to in order to attain cheap labor as companies move to India and/or Mexico currently. This "Hope and Change" message that most voted for will be the demise of America in more ways than one.....so, be careful what your praising Obama for and what he's doing to our country with all this rushed and pushed through legislation that the media is all goo goo over...... Greed is what makes the country one in which the ENTIRE world wants to be a part of. If you take that possibility away of making a million dollar bonus then YOU WON'T HAVE AMERICA AS WE KNOW IT!!!! In the end, you will have a society of hourly or salaried low income workers that have government provided health care and live in squalor waiting on the government to provide our next loaf of bread, figuratively speaking. Now, what sort of goverment is this describing? I'm too ashamed to actually type it....

Another evolving matter is our level of education in this country...

typing to instead of too
or lease instead of least
or loose instead of lose

Another matter is our becoming a welfare dominated sociey and a quarter of the country drawing a check from the government. Lazy-asses deserve NO CHECK....cut them off and let them starve!!! WORK or DON'T EAT! The way things are going, the middle class and even more so, the upper class, are providing the country with luxury that by themselves they just cannot afford.....and the Obama administration is saying "tax the middle and upper class more???" How about making the lower class actually get their asses up off the couch and work for a living!!!!!!!!!!!!!

rant off.....

Pertaining to the OP's topic..... I drive a pre-05 taco for exactly your stated point. The quality on the 05+ was lacking. I was having too many issues that toyota wasn't able to admit their fault in manufacturing. I had to fix most issues by myself and got to the point of thinking what was going to happen next?

no, he meant price. Toyota's quality suffered because of having to compete based on a price point they were trying to attain.

Congrats on the new son

I think that Obama will be directly responsible for many heat and cold related deaths in the years to come. Yes I know that Congress passes the laws, but it was him and his political capital that got the energy bill passed. He just made Al Gore a billionaire. Carbon Offsets, what a load of crap. If they want less carbon emissions than just say that and fine the companies when they go over for so many emitted per kilowatt. No need for Carbon offsets. This is just another transfer of wealth scam. You know how every summer in Chicago, New York and most other big cities some poor old folks die because they can't afford the ac?
Just watch in the next few years how many more die.

Overall I don't like Obama either...and I agree with you both...the only thing I agree with Obama on is the mindset of greed in business these days...this hurts America too.

There has always been an attitude of greed in business. What is different in my observations is that the accountability has been lost. In a public company the Board of directors is supposed to look out for the share holders. I don't feel this has been done for many years in most companies. Why would you ever have the CEO also be the chairman? As for Obama I don't dislike all his ideas either. I just think that he has a fundamentally different view of America and the values we were built on. As a side note when he was all about no lobbyist in his administration I was all for it. Then two days later he made an exception for the Number two position under one of his cabinet posts. Don't remember which one right now. It seems he has his ideals but they are easily compromised, Take the Jeremiah Wright thing. I don't think(at least I hope) he agreed with all that G*d D**m America crap, but that was the church to be seen at so there ya go.
