a few of my customers stated they switched to royal purple in their vehicles and gained anywhere from 2-6 mpg. now mind you, these are reliability engineers that are around rotating equipment (refinery pumps) all day long, so they are not stupid, they know their stuff and how machines operate.
what do you guys think? anyone that has used this stuff in our tacomas?

2-6 seems highly unlikely. There just isn't that much difference between royal purple and any other oil. It isn't that expensive to try it for 5000 miles why don't you try it. I've gone away from mobil 1 0w-20 to motorcraft synthblend 5w-20 with no noticeable difference. Engine friction is only a minor factor in total fuel required at highway speeds.

and mods why was this moved to the lounge, this was a very direct question to 05+ taco engines??
Because your original question is so generic. Topics like motor oil, gas additives, or cleaning products are generic for any vehicle, so the preference is to move them to those types of forums (General Discussion, Fuel Economy, or Car Care, respectively). Moving the thread is the judgment call of the moderator. And, no, I wasn't the one who moved the thread.

Thiner engine oil usually gives higher MPG and lowers wear in cold areas, but that one engine oil gives a notable improvement in MPG over another with the same specs has never been proven by an independent scientific source. Even i could bottle normal oil in a fancy bottle and pay off a white coat schmuck to "prove" my product is 10 times better than the others, and add a few zeros to the price tag.
