K & N Air Filters - Worth it?

That K & N Filter counter display/demonstration they have in Advance Auto stores showing the ping pong ball in the plastic tube looks pretty darned impressive to me. Having worked in marketing for 30+ years I'm no sucker for sales hype, but this filter appears to have much better air flow than a regular filter. Are they worth the extra (lots of extra) money?

It has better airflow because it is obviously less restrictive. Pore size is greatly increased though, which will let in more dirt.
One of the only advantages to it is that it is reusable.

if i'm not mistaken, increased airflow through a filter is only needed when the motor is up at high rpms.

my driving style does not need a k-n.

did the air cleaner oiling on my m-c's - don't want the hassle on my truck.

too much oil on the filter may confuse the airflow sensor.

I have had no issues related to my K&N and with the s/c the flow is needed.

I use an AFE Pro-Dry S air filter. Doesn't need to be oiled like the K&N does.

While i don't notice any significant difference, I like it for the peace of mind.
