Purchasing Decision! 2001 vs 2006

This is my first post and I am hoping to become a more permanent member here by purchasing my first Toyota, my first Tacoma, and my first TRUCK.

Here are my choices right now.

1. 2006 Tacoma Access cab, TRD Off-road, 4x4, 80,000 miles, 6 cylinder, 6 SPEED manual. $17k USD. 2 owners and 2nd owner bought from Toyota Dealerhips with 20,000 miles. Priced below KBB.

2. 2001 Tacoma DOUBLE cab, TRD Off-road, 4x4, 100,000 miles, 6 cylinder, 4 SPEED auto. $13k USD. 3 owners and third owner bought 5000 miles ago and says truck is not for him. Priced above KBB.

Option 1 is far away (40 hours commute back home) and Option 2 is closer to home (6 hrs). I personally just want a 4x4 and find the truck body appealing right now. I like the exterior of the first gen quad, but the newer advances of the second gen make up for any emotional attachment. My gf will like the interior of the gen 2, but ultimately indifferent about either trucks.

I guess my decision is on the 2nd gen access cab, but its so close that I would like some third party feedback.

i was also debating the differences. however it was between a 2003 trd dblcab 4x4 limited v6 with AAR wheels and an 07 access cab manual...i chose the 03. the girlfriend says that it rides like a car. the back seats are about as big as some cars. the interior was fancier in the 07, but id rather have more fun in the 03.

Yeah I looked ato alot of trucks and had the same problem, what to buy, here is what I did I went and spent 19K and bought a new regular cab.

Why would you give someone 17K for a truck with 80K miles that has already been kicked to hell and back and probably abused to death if not close to it.

For 2 K more you can own a new truck, that will last forever, along with getting better intrest rates for a new vehicle
