Access Cab vs. Crew Cab

OK, now my final decision is to determine if I should get the Access Cab, or Crew Cab model. Any suggestions?

I like the idea of the Access Cab. I am a single father and don't really have the need of driving anyone around other than my 5yr old. I am wondering if the crew would even be worth the extra money. Plus it reduces the tow load by 200#.

If anyone has experience, or comments as to why I would choose one over the other, please, chime in.

Thanks.

I didn't see you had 2 threads going. Here's what I wrote in your other thread (about my crew cab)-
I've had a friends kid in the back, he's 5 and still in a normal kid seat as I guess he's a bit too small to step up to a booster seat (I don't have kids so I have no idea what the rules are for that stuff ) and if you were to put him behind me, with my seat almost all the way back his feet would be into the seatback. I'm more concerned with keeping the interior nice, but I imagine it's not the most comfortable setup for the little guy either. So when he's been in the truck he sits in the passenger side with the passenger seat slid forward a fair bit. I know tons of guys on here have kids in the back but I don't see it working well for someone my size. At least not once the kids are a bit bigger.

Get quad. Extra room is nice because you never know, and resale value is better.

2yrs ago I had the same issue, however, I'm also big on MPG (even an extra 1 or 2, it adds up). The Access Cab is as big and as loaded one can go with the four banger (manual only), yet 4x4 for hidden fishing spots, so the decision was made for me.
Since then, I testify to the interior space as being great, the back suicide doors opens sweet, and I like the fact that I can reach around the cabin from my seat.
The child will fit with room to spare, and in 5 more yrs he'll be up front any way.
Still make a list of what you want, I see tow load mentioned, child, and that single thing may change with the new whip and all. Hope this helps out.

I own a Double Cab and I, sometimes wonder, if I really needed that amount of room.
I would ask if you know the difference in MPG between the 2, and also the weight difference.
Access cab gives you more bed cargo area. But i have stored a bunch of stuff in the back seat also, since the seats fold away and down, specially for security if you don't have a "tonneau cover and lock" outside to leave medium size valuables (i.e. luggage, Ikea furniture, mall shopping stuff)
If you use it more for big cargo or work, just go Access cab, maybe later you can buy a Suv or sedan...
If you use it for family, go DC.
And don't buy new!! there are plenty of good used toyotas out there....

I thought I could get by with just an Access Cab when I was 20 and bought my first Tacoma. I got a 2007 Access cab and while it was a great truck it sucked. I rarely drive anyone other than me and one other friend but when I did, it sucked. My other friend would have to sit sideways in the back and there would be no room for anything else in the truck. And because my 60 lb Husky is too retarted to stay in the back without trying to jump out on the highway, that resulted in this:

I now own a double cab and am much, much happier
