Had a really bad experience at Roussel Toyota in Mirimachi the past week. Tried to deal on a truck they had on the internet and the sale of my existing truck did not go as planned. I had made a deposit of $500.00 on their truck subject to my selling my truck as planned, which fell through at the price originally agreed. Roussel Toyota then refused to refund my deposit, after only holding the truck 2 days. Pretty bad customer relations in my mind. I had not signed anything or even seen their truck yet, but I guess that's how they deal with customers in Mirimachi. Fred Roussel was then arrogant and smug with me on the phone when he finally did get back to me. I am retiring after 25 years service in the military and just finishing my last tour in Afghanistan, and my severance pay was going to a new truck. I have had nothing but Toyota's ever since my first truck in 1985. I plan on contacting the BBB in NB, Visa, and Toyota Regional Customer Service. Any other suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks. (PS. yes I am venting, sorry)
Nothing wrong with venting. I'm sorry to hear of your bad experience, that's pretty sorry customer service. I think your on the right track as far as doing what you can to getting something done. The next thing I would do is go to the next closest Toyota dealer and tell them your story. Ask them if that's their practice too (stealing peoples money). If they want to gain a new customer maybe they'll work with you, and maybe (if you don't another way) you'll get that deposit back in deal savings at the new dealer.
Keep us posted on your situation, I'd like to see how things tun out for you.
That sucks. I belong to the local legion in Miramichi and plan on ensuring the members know of how Roussel Toyota treats veterans. Keep your chin up and don't just drop the issue. PM me if you want some free legal advice. Glad you like your new truck.
Thanks Armyvet. I am still waiting for a response from Toyota Canada customer service on the issue. Not sure how much influence they will have as they tell me that Toyota Dealers are independant and are free to steal from customers as they see fit. It blows me away that without any signed contract they can just debit my visa and keep the money. I plan on paying Roussel a visit in person to see if they are just as rude to me when I am standing there.
Any other suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks. (PS. yes I am venting, sorry)
I don't know if you have this in Canada, but here in the U.S. each individual state has an Attorney General's office that handles legal matters for the state, and most of them have a consumer office or, as here in California, an office called the Bureau of Automotive Repairs. Out here sicking the BAR on an automotive business is like unleashing Godzilla on a preschool: they run screaming into the woods and give you anything you want.... Seriously, if you have any similar kind of government legal office in New Brunswick then you should avail yourself of it. No one wants government on their ass.

i have purchase 3 truck from those guys, nothing but good service, so when i read your treat the other day, it got me a little comfuse. so i went to see fred, the used car manager, he told me the COMPLETE story, i guess like a honor medal, the story have 2 side, he showd me the email, between the salespersone and you. the salespersone did indeed tell you that the deposit was not refundable a multiple time and that the only reason that they were actualy taking one is because of a different TIRE that you wanted.... also you mention that you deal on your vehicle didn't go as planed, why would that be roussel toyota problem.... they also told me that indeed the customer that was going to buy your vehicle did indeed buy it.... maybe you should look in the mirror before complaining on a site like this, i do get my information before buying a car, and this information will give me false information...... i am sorry that you have to loose your deposit, but if you knew the cost, you may be to blame a little also....

cheer.
MonsterTacoma1;
Nice first post. My guess is that you are Fred Roussel and signed on today to try and defend yourself. How could you of otherwise had time to do your investigation. I have been on these sights for a long time as a loyal toyota customer. Don't worry, I will be visiting soon to see you in person and we can discuss this face to face. Now you can go back to ripping off customers. PS. I offered to buy the tires you bought at your cost but you refused in order to keep my money. See you soon dude.
sorry dude, but im am not Fred, i am not saying they don't do wrong either, i am just saying that in your case you should maybe tell the completed story..... i seen the letter to the salespersonne.... and i don't think that the dealership is in wrong... i just want to make shur that the others here know that YOU are not telling everything.

OK so you just signed up here today, I bet everyone here believes you then. I would be happy to post the response you sent to the better business bureau and my response back, it has all the facts and details. In order to compromise I even offered to buy the tires (which had to be replaced anyway) but was flat out denied that opportunity. And if you are not Roussel then why are they sharing personal customer info with people off the street? Use some common sense my friend, just sell me the tires at your cost and we will call this a day. I would be happy otherwise to post the details from the Better Business Bureau.
not shure if i folow your story corectly
you put a deposit to get a vehicule ready and order tire then you change your mind???
you want your deposit back ..
what is the deposit for (a maby customer)
then you want the dealer to sell you the tires at cost price (who are they santa clause) you didnt buy the truck from them why would they do you a favor at this point .. sell tire with no profit?? since when buisness sell tires at cost for customers specialy if you didnt even buy a truck from them !!
if the maby fred that you think he his that reply you (tacomamonster1) story is true that you sold the vehicule to the customer as plan and then bought at another dealer (maby because of a better deal or diferent choice )that is not the dealer fault
im in buisness my self and if a deposit is taken its not to be refund to the customer if he change his mind on his purchase .
im not related to the rousel dealer
i did bought vehicule there
but would not apreciat this type of advertise online (kijiji ) if its really not the dealer fault
i dont think the dealer took your wallet and your credit card # as you mentione you called visa
the deposit was given by you
i was not there so i do not have all the fact
but for what i see here
you made a deal ,then change your minde after 2 days , product was orders
they didnt refund your deposit
buisness dont take deposit to cancel deal after (deal is done when deposit is taken )
and for your history of scaming customer (your the only one on google )
you should take your ad off that site
I do respect your opinion, but I do not believe you are who you say you are not. Once again you just signed up today and this is your first post. You also state the exact position of the dealership, so you are either related or work there. Bottom line, the deposit had conditions attached to it although you are correct, they were not in writing and done over the phone. When my deal was annuled selling my car at a price previously agreed upon by my buyer, I contacted Roussel Toyota and advised them the deal was off until I had things resolved. I was then told I was being held hostage for my deposit which I do not like. If I changed my mind on how much I wanted to pay you for your truck would that not cancel the deal? I guess I should have got a deposit from my buyer so I could hold him hostage to my deal. Mr Roussel was kind enough today to phone me to discuss this issue, and we have planned to meet in person in the near future to resolve this to everyones satisfaction, but I think you already know that. I am going to close this matter until after that meeting.
Mr Roussel contacted me today with what I feel is an acceptable resolution to this matter. I am going to receive a credit for some items from his parts department. (I could use some winter rims) I feel this is more than fair and feel that this whole issue is behind me. Many thanks.
