1994 Toyota 4x4 X-Cab V6 Automatic w/ only 14,722 original miles

1994 Toyota 4x4 X-Cab V6 Automatic w/ only 14,722 original miles

One Owner, original miles. The body only has a few small dings and scratches, the engine runs like new (3.0 V6), transmission shifts like new, interior (seats, dash, instruments, upolstery, door panels, carpet, all glass look new) and everything electrical is in unbelievably good condition, but the frame and suspension have severe rust damage. I have a clear title in hand.

The mileage is correct. I just bought this truck off ebay with the intension of using it for a good second vehicle b/c I have a Sequoia and need a pick-up for hauling stuff around. The previous owner disclosed there was "some rust damage" to the frame, but did not divulge the full extent and said the frame could be sandblasted and re-undercoated and would be fine. Well, when I got the truck today and looked under it, the frame and suspension are in terrible condition and in my opinion, the truck as it is now should not be driven. Hovever, this truck only has 14,722 original miles on it. I'm completely baffled how everything on this truck is in such good condition, but the frame and suspension are simply rotten out from under it. The body doesn't even have any rust on it I've found yet, I don't undersand how the body didn't rust and everything under it is shot.

This is a project truck for someone who has a frame and suspension to put under it, everything else is there and works great. This thing is just way more of a project than I have the equipment, tools and mainly time to deal with. I just want to recover my money out of it and look for another truck. I'd be interested in trading it for another 4x4 Toyota truck of equal value that I don't have to fix up to be able to use it.

I need to get $ 3,800 out of it to re-cover my losses, but I'm open to reasonable offers. This is as new of an engine and transmission you can find for one of these trucks and the drivetrain alone is worth around 2K. If this thing had a frame and suspension in decent shape under it, in the condition it's in with this low of original mileage, it'd easily be an $ 8,000.00 + truck. I couldn't find anything like this truck with under 100K miles on it for under that price when I was looking around for a truck. With a couple of thousand on a donor frame and suspension, someone could get really nice truck. I will take pictures of it and post them by this weekend if anyone is interested. The truck is located in Moncks Corner, SC. Please email me at matt@pcgllc.net or call at 843-514-7808 if interested. Thanks.

I spent the day today knocking rust out from under this thing, I bet 50 pounds of rust came off of it. The front suspension is shot, after knocking all the rust off, I bet most of the steel of each part is 1/4 the original thickness. There is also a whole completely through the frame on the drivers side where the front leaf spring bracket is mounted to the frame.

The rest of this truck is in unbelievably great condition. I can't stand it, I know I'll never find another one with this low of mileage and in this kind of condition with the exception of the frame rot. Does anybody have any info for how I can find a frame shop or somebody that can

you could purchase the entire frame and replace parts from one to the other.

trdparts4u.com

have you thought about a lawsuit against the dude that sold it to you??? you did buy it "sight unseen" though..

Here's some pictures of it. As can be seen, everything on this truck is in really good shape, Interior is pristine....just the frame and suspension have rust damage.

I'd love to try to go after the guy, but it'd cost me more that it's worth to sick my lawyer after him. Plus, what is still good on the truck is worth what I paid for it. It was a used truck, "As Is" buyer's agreement, I'm in South Carolina, he's in New Jersey.......I don't have the time to pursue it, as much as I'd like to. I bought it off of ebay, I called the guy and talked to him and asked specific questions about the extent of the rust damage. His exact words were "it's just surface rust, you should be able to sandblast and re-undercoat it". The frame may not be in as bad of shape as I originally thought. It does have some pretty bad spots on it and there is one spot where it's completely rusted through, but the suspension is what is the worst. The leaf springs on the back broke, the shocks are gone on the rear (one end attached to the frame, there is NO OTHER END attached to the rear axle). The front suspension is so rusted, I don't think there's anything salvagable. The frame could probably be patched up maybe, but it needs a completely new front end and rear suspsension and could maybe be saved. I've got my mechanic picking it up from my house today on a flatbed b/c I don't want to drive it at all in the shape it's in. He's going to give it a thorough inspection and give me his opinion on if it's worth trying to save it, or part it out. I'm disclosing as much info as I can about this truck (unlike the guy who sold it to me). Please take a look at all the pictures I just posted. You can see how good of condition everything is on the truck with the exception of the frame and suspension rot. If anyone has any questions, please ask. I'd like to try to sell the whole thing as is, before I start trying to part it out. Thanks.

I just got a call from my Dad who is friends with our mechanic. He said the suspension is too far gone to try to save and the frame isn't salvagable to a point where you could really try to bolt up any new supsension parts to it.....so it's done. Selling it for parts. I'd like to sell it whole, i really don't want to start selling small parts off of it. I'd like to sell it in as big of pieces as I can, ie; cab, bed, drivetrain, etc. I really don't have time to start taking small pieces off.....Let me know if anyone is interested.

I used a car carrier company I found online. Cost me $ 399.00 to have them pick it up in Elizabeth, NJ and deliver it to me "door to door". I had no way or time to go up there to check it out, so I took the seller for his word that the rust on the frame was "just surface rust", he posted two pictures on Ebay of what now appear to be the only two good places left on the frame. I didn't see how bad the rust really was until the car carrier showed up and the driver was unloading it. As soon as I saw it, I thought, damn this thing is in good shape, until I walked right up to it while it was still on the trailer and I could see the whole undercairrage - HOLY SH!! the rust!

I'm seriously considering trying to "resurect" this little truck. I can't bring myself to part it. I posted a want ad on Craigslist earlier this week and got a call Wednesday night from a guy that's only about an hour away from where I live. He said he's got a frame from a 93' extended cab V6 that somebody rolled over, supposedly rolled it on the side and it barely went over on the top. Anyway, he said the truck was totalled, he bought it just to pull the V6 out of it. He said the frame is fine and rust free. He said he'd sell it for $ 250.00. I'm going to go check it out as soon as I get a chance. I'd love to be able to keep this truck if I can get a usable frame and suspension to put under it. For what I paid for the truck, what it cost me to haul it down here and what a frame and what I'm anticipating what it's going to cost me to do the swap, I'm hoping I'll only have about $ 5,500.00 in it. If this truck had a good frame under it with this kind of low mileage, I think it would have sold for atleast $ 7,500.00 or more. It's going to be alot of work, but overall it's going to be cheaper than if I had bought one with a good frame to start with.

that sounds like a plan to me..... do the work mostly yourself and learn a LOT about your truck along the way.

I hope you left negative feedback for the seller on Ebay!!!!!

I called the guy first to let him have it. He said "give me a break, the engine and transmission alone is worth what you paid for it with the low mileage......", which is right, but my response was that I wasn't looking to buy and engine and transmission to park in my driveway to look at that I CAN'T DRIVE, especially when I asked and he told me point blank the rust on the frame and suspension was surface rust and I should be able to sandblast it and undercoat and be good to go. He seemed to be an alright guy everytime I spoke with him before, but when I told him he flat out lied to me about the rust, his true colors came out and it became apparent that he's a lying S.O.B. He has a small car "dealership" call Certified Motor Car in Elizabeth, NJ, his name is Sal. If you ever come accross him, don't buy anything from him unless you can inspect it yourself in person. I left very negative feedback on Ebay and plan on contacting Ebay to see if there is some type of additional complaint I can file with them to warn people to watch out for him so he doesn't screw somebody else like this. I also plan on sending all the information regarding what occured to the NJ Better Business Bureau when I get around to it.

+1 on the frame swap. it will be a great truck with a good frame. swapping the frame isn't that hard with some good tools if you have some mechanical experience. the bolts on the rusty frame will probably snap so take your time and just work at it. good luck and post pics of the project.
