Hello all.
I have a 1995 Toyota pickup. I bought the shell for dirt cheap with a blown engine. I purchased a remanufactured 22re to replace the old engine. I transfered over all the accesories,installed new oil pump, as well as a new clutch kit.
I am a Nissan guy, and on Nissan's we like to remove the EGR system. So I figured why not do it to my Toyota. So I blocked off all the EGR pipes and removed the vaccum lines.
When it came time to start the engine, I greased the head with Lucas, and primed the oil pump.
The engine started after a few cranks, but it was backfiring as it was trying to start. Then it idled and died. I started it once more, did the same thing.
The truck has been sitting at my shop for a while now. I've decided to cut my losses and stick to Nissan.
I know someone with more experience can have this thing up and running in no time.
the body is in great condition aside from some rust on the hood and missing rear bumper, and front grill.
I paid $500.00 for the shell and $1200.00 for the motor including shipping.
