I switched from Maguire's Crystal car was to the Gold Class and they are completely different products. The Gold is much thicker, like honey, and mixed it feels much more lubricated. Like PB said...lubricant between the mitt and the paint makes you feel a lot better when washing.

Regarding the two bucket wash, I don't find it slows me down too much. If you are trying to break a speed record for washing, yes. But if you are trying to give your vehicle a quality wash, no. When you are going for quality, you are working slower anyway because you are examining the details. For me, washing is the time I spend for discovery. I discover where problems might be and I correct them: be they birdshit, tar, scratches, etc. That visual and tactile inspection process takes a little time, and during that time, you can use the two bucket method and it doesn't really slow you down: you are looking at the paint surface while you are rinsing the mitt. Either way, you should be checking the mitt for debris before you slap it back on the vehicle.

Speaking of the speed record, I'll entertain you a bit. My next-door neighbors are three tall, stunning blond Mormon girls. I shit you not. We share the same alleyway. I check them out. They check me out. It's great!

They love that I have a truck since they are not so common around here, and it reminds them of home (Utah and Texas). They see I take care of it in the alley. Last weekend as I had my morning rooster hair and coffee cup in my hand, they started washing two of their cars: Tall blond chicks in shorts and t-shirts, water splashing around, lots of bending...it was a really beautiful morning. They needed a little help. They were trying to break that speed record, but that’s OK…I slowed them down. I started giving a couple pointers and then my washing nozzle, and some Gold Class car soap, and then some microfibers...etc.

Man I was in my glory...

I gotta tell ya' it was a nice morning.

This story is going nowhere. They are Mormons. I am married. And they were using the one-bucket method and one of them was using a terry cloth. Anyway, at the end of this most awesome cleansing...one of the girls says, "This is my favorite part!" I spin around to catch a glimpse of whatever this happy ending might be, and there she is...in gorgeous athletic form, tossing that bucket of skank water right back on top of her car!!!! Ouch.

That's OK. I'll forgive her. I just told her to never do that again. She could tell I wasn't happy.

She is catching the detailing bug, thanks to me. For now on, every weekend, I am keeping my eyes peeled on that alley. If I see them washing their cars again, I am definitely going to have to teach them the two-bucket method!!!
