Your wait will soon be over. Toyota knows that in order to take a stake in the truck market, diesel is the only way to go after the other part of the market "heavy duty". The 1/2 ton market is big, but in Texas the tow rating needs can be up in the 14,000+ range. This will leave no stone unturned in the truck market. You will see 3/4 tons, duallies and 1ton trucks.

From what I understand, it will be a Toyota built engine. Not a borrowed name brand from anyone else. Ford,Chevy and Dodge will be scrambling. I think that is why Ford is really pushing their Super Duty trucks so hard. Getting people in them so they can't come out of them when Toyota launches the beast. Can you imagine the performance you will have in a diesel Tundra? Here is an idea, Regular Cab 6' bed Tundra 4X4 diesel. Just a thought.

Where's that information from? The press release doesn't mention dropping the tow package. Vinyl floors and manual locks and windows is what you get on the "Standard" grade regular cabs.
Also, makes no sense that the tow rating of the 5.7 w/ 4.10 gears would be lower than the 4.7 w/ 4.10 gears.

I dont see that being a good production move at this time. Have you filled up a diesel tank up lately in No. America? Diesel used to be a inexpensive fuel. It now cost more than premium in So. Cal.

Throw lockers on the 4x4, and up the towing capacity and I'll trade in my Silverado. I love Chevy, but my neighbor just got that new '07 Tundra CrewMax 5.7L 4x4, and it is sweet!
