2008 Toyota Matrix Rally concept

Toyota unleashed the new Matrix in a Halloween-infused joint press conference here in Vegas. The production version of the new (Corolla) Matrix debuted across the street, but we were on hand to see the Rally version unveiled on the floor at SEMA. The new design lends itself well to some modifications, but like most of the vehicles here at the show, it's more about flash than function. The front-mount intercooler helps feed a supercharged version of the Matrix's 2.4-liter four. The OZ wheels and upgraded brakes speak to the concept's functionality, as does the stripped out interior, added fuel cell and multi-point rollcage.

Im still ticked that the 2az is the xrx offering. Hopefully the new four cylinder toyota is working will replace that and still offer the displacement but with more hp. The 2azs output is laughable compared to the offerings from other makers now, like nissan and honda. 2az is stout but stock it just dont got enough balls now

Wow, that's the best looking Matrix that I've ever seen. Too bad Toyota won't offer anything even close to it.

toyota may not offer anything like this stock
but its pure proof that with a little love it surely have great potential

Thats the coolest looking rig ive seen. Obviously not meant for offroad rally though...waaaay to low slung. Cool for the street though
