The Toyota version will not be sold in North America. Too many Subi bashers who do not want a boxer engine in a Toyota. They increased the HP to 220 HP too. I hope Toyota changes their mind and ignore the bashers at Club4AG and not punish all Toyota owners who wanted this car.

The Toyota model, still to be named, will be sold exclusively in Japan, while the Subaru-badged model will be marketed worldwide. The mechanical package will be identical, but both Toyota and Subaru will create exterior designs to differentiate their cars from each other.

The Boxer engines ouput is estimated at 2.0L 220 HP @ 6500 RPM.
I suspect it a tweaked version of the new 2.0L 200 HP engine that is going into the Legacy which was being design to be more fuel efficient and more torque.

Although Toyota's target is the Integra Type-R. That Boxer engine due to its better fundamental design is surpassing the 2008 Honda S2000 race bred engine.
2.2L (2157 CC) 237 HP @ 7800 RPM 162 ft-lbs @ 6800 RPM

That works out to 110Hp/L for the Toyota vs 109.87Hp/L for the S2000 which has to windup 1300 RPM more and probably produces less torque.

It will be interesting to see these two cars go head to head. 20K Toyota/Subaru vs the 35K Honda S2000. Which one will sell better!!!

The Subaru version is looking pretty good. If it is following the styling cues from the five-door model. It looks like it is a 2 door coupe with a hatchback like Toyota's Corolla Coupes of the past. Not body stylewise but a coupe that has 2 doors and a hatchback.

The hatchback makes them a more practical vehicle, useful for hauling large bulky items like Big screen TVs, computers, powertools, etc.
