Lexus Releases Pics of Two LF-A Racers

Ahead of the world famous Nürburgring 24 Hour race this weekend, Lexus has released a set of photos of not one, but two LF-A models that will compete for the title.

Last year Lexus brought an LF-A test mule out to the race but announced that it wasn't technically competing, which is a good thing considering the car didn't make it far.

This year the automaker is back and have increased their odds with not one but two LF-A models, both running in the Division 2 SP8 class for close to production models. Lexus has also employed the expertise of Gazoo racing, which runs Lexus cars in the Super GT series in Japan. One of the cars will be co-piloted by Toyota's new CEO Akio Toyoda.

The LF-A features a 4.8-liter V8 with around 500 hp and uses a paddle-shift sequential gearbox.

The production version of the car is expected to debut at the Tokyo Auto Show this Fall.

Lexus may be looking for an outright win at the Nürburgring 24 but this year it may be even harder than in the past. Not only will there be the usual fleet of BMWs and Porsches, but Audi has announced plans to run four R8s.

The Nürburgring 24 Hour race starts this Saturday (May 23rd) and runs until Sunday.

wow, Toyoda himself will be a part of it. That's very interesting. It shows the direction that Toyota wants to take. It's not proof of any products, but the fact that he's involved. Sometimes, actions speak louder than words.

who say it is a loss

by logic it is the real winner

just by lil bit modification

and the prove is

1)for the lexus LFA#14 if it didn't stop or by other word if its drivers not pushed it always to maximum limits & make even just one lap over 9 min as average cars it can shall easily be the first in SP* in front of the A. martin (hint:before the car stop it was just 2 min behind the vantage)

2)for the lexus LFA#15 just realize that it began the race 5 hrs later and also it gets overhaul rank 89 before it's engine blow

------
Fact the drivers are in tension to got out all what they have and what their cars got so they pushed the cars to the maximum limits always and that's why the AVG lap time for the lexus is in the same AVG as Porsche & Audi so with lil bit tuning you 'll see an overhaul ranking winner next year

LF-A is a whole different level. Not even a comparison with the IS-F. The IS-F laptime of Nurburgring is actually 8:19, which is nothing spectacular. In fact, it is way below par considering an old E46 M3 with only 333 HP ran the Nurburgring in 8:21. Only 2 seconds slower than the IS-F.
