Toyota RAV4 Driver Shoots Boy With Crossbow

An old newspaper maxim posits that "dog bites man" won't make for an eye-catching headline, but "man bites dog" will get people's attention. Perhaps the automotive equivalent is "Toyota RAV4 Driver Shoots Boy With Crossbow".

Although information is scant, this is undoubtedly one of the most bizarre stories of the year. According to reports, a boy in San Diego was throwing rocks off of a freeway overpass when he was shot in the stomach with a crossbow. The shooter was said to be driving a black Toyota RAV4, and no arrests have been made.

We would automatically question the motives of anyone riding around with a crossbow in their car, but the RAV4 strikes us as a strange idiosyncracy. There are a thousand other vehicles that one would picture an anti-social maniac drving, and Toyota's crossover isn't one of them.

Here's a short news piece about the incident, which looks like a juvenile-on-juvenile crime according to witnesses. Looks like all-around antisocial behavior, and bad Karma.....

SAN DIEGO — A boy was shot in the abdomen by a crossbow bolt Monday after he and another boy were throwing rocks at a passing car in Linda Vista, San Diego police said.

A passenger in a black Toyota RAV4 pulled out a crossbow and fired one bolt before driving away around 2:15 p.m. on Linda Vista Road near Mesa College Drive, said police Officer Dino Delimitros.

The two people in the car were described as Latino males and most likely juveniles. Ages were not released for the boys who had been throwing rocks.

The boy who was shot was taken to Rady Children’s Hospital and suffered injuries that were not considered life threatening, Delimitros said.

Too bad the kid with the crossbow didn't have better aim. The little prick throwing rocks off of an overpass at cars should have been hit right in between the eyes.

16 years old. He knew he was being a prick.

Moral of the story: Do not throw rocks at cars are large enough to carry medieval artilleries. I mean, you shouldn't throw rocks at any cars, but especially not the big ones, y'know?
