After stunning the world with a Lexus super car, and surprising us with the pure driving experience of the Scion FRS, Toyota R&D is now rumored to be working on the return of the most legendary Toyota of all the Supra.
While the Mark IV Supra was discontinued amid a struggling Japanese economy, its popularity never ceased and has remained one of the tuner favorites of all time. With big shoes to fill, the new Supra is rumored to use a hybrid drivetrain, utilizing a 3.5 liter V6 engine to deliver about 400-hp to the rear wheels. What's more, Toyota will be working on the Supra's performance and price point with the Nissan GTR in mind.
However, Toyota's board is not rushing Supra's release and are hesitant on the project until they can evaluate the sales number of the GT86. Its production tentatively scheduled for 2015, the Supra is likely to heavily borrow styling characteristics from the FT-HS concept from the 2007 Detroit Auto Show.
