Try to get a real fine soldering tip. Use a soldering pen if you have one. A soldering GUN usually gets too hot for soldering on a circuit board. You don't want to damage anything with excessive heat. And I would really recommend using a solder sucker, for desoldering the orange LEDs. You can get 'em Radio Shack.
