Hi there, I'm totally new to the forum and toyota's period actually. I've been a vw guy my whole life. I had an opportunity to get a "barn find" essentially when my girlfriends great-grandpa in southern cali passed away. He owned his Corona since it was new, it's been taken pretty good care of, I was told it has no body damage, no rust, no paint issues, it's been sitting in a garage and under a car port it's whole life. Un-driven for the last 10 years due to his age, they took the air out of the tires but started it up every so often to keep the motor going. Here's some pictures of it. I got it for 200 bucks... sounded like a good deal for a car that's rust free of that era. Comes with factory AC. Can anybody fill me in on more about this car? It's parked at a friends place down there right now awaiting for me to go down and get it drivable. How much is a car like this worth if I get it running? Thanks!
I own a '73 Corona Wagon so I'm very familiar with your car. Interior looks fairly good, exterior very good. Your Corona has aftermarket AC. It's value depeends on what was wrong with it that prevented anyone from driving it for 10 years and if it can be made to run well again. And, of course, the odometer mileage (assuming the odometer still works). Value on ebay could range from $500 - $2,500 depending on the factors mentioned above.
For starters you might want to check the compression on each cylinder. If it's 140-165 PSI on all cylinders then the car should run good again when tuned up. If some cylinders are lower than that then
the engine will probably need cylinder head work (valve job). And if the engine has a loud knocking noise then the cylinder block would likely need to be rebuilt. Feel free to contact me with any mechanical questions. Good luck.
Thanks for the info guys! Where are good sources for parts online? What sort of other toyota's have parts that are interchangeable with this model? The tires are all rotten since the air was let out to stop the old guy from driving it, but the motor has been run regularly and so it should start up with a little gas in the carb. (I hope anyways) I'm going to have my friend down there pull all the plugs, put a little WD-40 down in the cylinders and see if he can crank it over by hand to ensure it's not frozen up. If I cleaned it up and got it running, put some new tires on there, what do you figure it's worth? What sort of gas mileage do these cars get?
im not 100% sure about your model but mine (74) shares the same suspension as a hilux so those parts arnt that hard to find but body n trim pieces are a pain, watch ebay and craigslist like a hawk, think i even saw a parts car for you on craigslist recently. well i dont see it there anymore but there is a 69 4 door sedan for 2k on there.
your in seattle? i wouldnt mind swingin by this weekend to check it out. id bring my supercharged wagon as a lil teaser for you. watch out there are quite a few fast n low wagons around here

Depends on the parts you need. NAPA probably still has tune up parts. Tires are an uncommon size (16580R13). Ebay has some parts. For hard to find parts like a radiator or brake master cylinder there is a vintage Toyota Corona Parts collector you could contact:

Before attempting to start the engine you should drain the gas tank of it's old stale gas (if the gas is more than a year old). A drain plug is built into the bottom of the tank. Then put a few gallons of clean new gas in the tank. Next, put a tablespoon of engine oil through each spark plug hole then reinstall the spark plugs and then crank the engine with the starter, but do not choke the engine or spray starter fluid in the carburetor. Simply spin the engine with the starter for 10-15 seconds to build up oil pressure. Next choke the engine and spray some starting fluid in the carburetor and crank the engine with the starter to see if it fires up. The motor takes NGK BP6ES spark plugs. The value of the car depends on whether or not you can get it to be street drivable and whether or not the engine and transmission work smoothly or roughly. The car might have serious engine / brake / clutch problems in which case it wouldn't be worth more than $300 - $600 because the new owner would have to have it towed to it's new home.
Congrats, I'll have to check out the pics when I get home. Feel free to upload good ones to the gallery.

Thanks for all the responses! The clutch, engine, everything SHOULD be in good order. It all was when parked and like I said it was started still every little bit when it was parked to keep the engine in order. Thanks for the tip on the gas tank, I'll make sure to do that first. The car is not currently in Seattle, though I do live there. The car (which i still have not yet seen in the flesh) is actually down in southern California at a friends house. He was kind enough to go get the car and have it towed via flatbed to his house. Are there any other tire sizes that fit the stock wheels? Since the stock tire size is so uncommon?
Also another couple of questions. Is this really a 1971? Wiki shows this front end as being the 64-69 body style. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toyota_Corona
Also what engine is in there? This wiki article http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toyota_M_engine
talks about an inline six motor going into the Corona Mark 2, but I was under the belief that it's an inline four, 1.9 liter motor. (1900 badge on the car)
It's positively a '70 or '71. On the drivers side door jam is a metal plate that tells you the month and year of manufacture. Cars made Aug 1969 - July 1970 = 1970 models. Cars made Aug 1970 - July 1971 = 1971 models.
Both the '70 and '71 Corona wagons had a 1900cc motor, the 8R-C motor
So I had a quick question for all of you corona experts. This car is in serious need of new tires, but the original tire size, 165/R13's has a very limited selection, as do 185/70/13's which would also fit. I'd like to get some newer larger rims to enlarge my available tire selections. What is the bolt pattern and offset of these wheels? What cars can I look for wheels off of that would fit? Thanks!
you should be able to use a newer 14in toyota 4lug (4x114.3mm or 4x4.5in) rim.
not sure what your offset should be but a 14x6 rim should fit just fine
you could even run supras if you wanted and they are a 14x7
im not sure if it would help with the car being in cali, but i have a set of "shop rollers" on good stock celica rims that will work, cant remember how bad or good the tires are, still hold air and i was driving on em not too long ago.
these ones to be specific, if you want the beauty rings ive got those too but no center caps, i also have a 3-4 (cant remember)74 corona hub caps that will fit
I found Toyota alloy wheels from the 79 period on ebay for $200. It took a lot of work to clean them up and then spray some clear coat on them, but they look pretty good. I have 195's on them.
