I believe the transmission will be an A40D, A43DL or A43DE (electronically controlled). Of course you'll need a computer and wiring harness for that engine and maybe the transmission. Driveshaft length may change so consider that, and engine and tranny mounts.

22r motor in a 1970 Corona Mark ll

Ive just completed installing a 22R motor in Toyota Corona Mk ll
I can see why you really cant find anybody on the web thats done it.
Even though their all the R family motor (8r 18 r etc....Its really not ment to be.Im not regreting it though.still havent worked out all the bugs.Mostly elec.
Be happy to share any tips i found. You dont have to go with a electric fan either but its definitly more work.Ive got a real station wagon (1971)The only one ive seen in years. They saved all the datsuns but not many of these.Im using a 5 speed supra transmission 22R toyota motor

Corona Mk ll transmission

Although the transmission bolts up to the 22R or Re.perfectly.I had to modify the cross mount. It was alittle longer as well which changed the cross members position for mounting.I had the supra 5 speed in the 71 Station wagon.Maybe its different with the coupe
