Couple of Questions haven't been able to find out any thing by search the net so..
I have a 78 Corona with a Auto trans dont lan on gettingrid of the auto cause I'm going old school VIP.
Looking to put a Weber and a Offy on it I find the offy intakes all the time but on the Weber how does the linkage hook up and can you still use the kick down cable?
Also my stock manifold has a crack in it and am looking to get a header but can't find a Corona spec one but I see these on Ebay all the time and it looks like it will fit, http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Exhau...1%7C240%3A1318
Any help
Thanks

Okay, the Weber DGEV 32/36 is a simple installation that uses the stock Toyota throttle rod which connects to the rear of the carb. You just attach the fork shaped part that comes with the carb kit to the back of the carb, and the throttle rod fits right in just like stock. Thus the kick down cable remains the same. If you go with side-drafts or other carbs, I don't know. Weber probably includes the correct parts. Order direct for Redline Weber. Speak to Bud Pauge for tech issues there.
Regarding your exh manifold, I had mine welded and it has held up very well. It was welded by a professional, experienced diesel mechanic who knows how to weld cast-iron. I believe he brazed it with stainless or bronze, I forget. Or you can get one from Toyhead Restoration. He has one that supposedly will not crack. Unless your going performance, I wouldn't bother with a header because it probably won't do that much for you. There is a 20R head and early-22R block combination that supposedly gives you more power and you can added all the goodies. Apparently the 20R head flows better, but the 20R exh manifold will not work, so you must use 20R part. Weber makes a 38/38 downdraft and then there are always the side drafts, depends on how deep your wallet is. Good luck.
BTW, I use to have a 71 Datsun 510, but I have a 71 Z now.

Thanks for the reply,I know how deep you pockets can be with Sidedrafts, my truck has a high-comp 22r with dual 40's Stage 4 LC Cam Thorley Header, LC Race under Drive set-up Alum Flywheel ACT stage 4 Clutch on a 4-speed DUI Dist.
I was looking at my Corona yesterday better in the light and see what you are talking about the fork and the kick-down cable, I have a stage 1 TRD Cam out of my Truck that I was going to throw in with a MSD box 32/36 on a Offy intake, This is going to be my Daily, I am thinking about getting the Header I posted cause I'm going to have the mild Boso Style exhaust
Plus when you swap a 20r Head on a 22r block it is a high comp motor as well but I'm sure you know it is not a straight bolt in affair, Oil passages have to be redone.
I wish my 510 was running but need some fron Fenders and the motor tightened up
Thnaks

If you put a cam in, do you think the 32/36 will be enough?

32/36 is not a performance carb, if you're going that route I'd go with a 38/38 minimum. I believe those open both barrels simultaneously.

if your not going to get a dougthorely 4-2-1 header (502-y) the 83-85ish celica/pickup exhaust manifold is a decent upgrade.
just make sure there is only 1 mounting hole between #2 n #3 and it will fit. i have both the header i mentioned and the cast tri-y and the only difference i can tell is 4-5k. i dont use that range all that much so i think the better money is on the newer tri-y manifold.
genuine weber kits will come with more then the needed parts to hook it up.
Are you talking about a stock cast TRI-Y? One of the main reasons I wat a Tublar header is for looks and to clean up Engine compartment What Yea do Yu have the Thorley on?? I have that header on my truck and there is no way it would clear post a pic for reference

It'll be difficult to air condition a supercharged car.

Hey guys I got a 78 corona that I would like to turn into a sleeper. Got any ideas? it is completely stock. I was thinking about a sidedraft weber carb to start out with. Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
