yea you pretty much are talking to a wall. if i ever do the swap, which I doubt I will, I'll be keeping the original parts. Who knows, maybe someday I'll throw a 2jzgte in and a 6 speed. Maybe once my dad no longer cares about the car so much.... If that ever happens ill let you know about the auto trans

Well, many dollars and months later, I have finally taken one more step closer to determining the swap-ability of LSD diffs from AE86 Corolla's into the stock '81 Corona axle housing. I purchased a rear end that is supposedly from a 1984 Corolla GTS with disc brakes and no LSD, but if the COROLLA and CORONA open diffs are the same, the LSD diffs meant for '84 AE86 should also slide right in.

So when I get the 20/22r hybrid swap and W58 supra 5 speed swap finished in the next couple weeks, I will tackle the AE86 axle and strip it down. It desperately needs some rust removal and paint. I'm most likely going to take a wire brush wheel attached to my power drill to the entirety of the axle housing and then coat it with Rust Encapsulator paint followed by Dupli-Color Gloss Black Engine paint and then several Dupli-Color clear coats. (I use spray cans, and during the winter spray painting in a temperature controlled area - 65-80 degree F is essential for proper adhesion) I guess I will post all the dimensional specifications of my Corona's setup (ie:axle lengths, diameters, spline counts, etc.) so anyone could compare what they have to what I list and see what they would need for a swap.

Hope no one's been holding their breath...
