that will be the catalytic converter supply pipe, coming from the air pump which is all part of the environmental control system and prevents backfiring

Mine was totally rusted out as was the catalyic converter. I replaced the converter with a new one, and gutted the airpump system. I gutted the air pump and it remained only as an idler pulley for my A/C compressor.

Did you have any complications with removing that system?

Is yours a 4M? If so, which carb did you use? I'm thinking of changing mine too

air pump

re: 20r '80 corona dlx.
When I installed a Weber carb I left the air pump hose hanging, later the air pump bearings went bad, so I just took the belt off, since I have no A/C.
I still haven't handled the upper loose hose. I want to completely remove the pump, but I don't know how to handle the lower hose, maybe just plug it?

1977 Toyota Corona

I have a 4 door Corona 1977 with 20R engine that is in need of a tri-y header. What would fit as some are saying that 20R Corona will not work with a Thorley header for Toyota pick up.
Thank you

I'm not familiar with headers for the 20R engine. What do you mean by a tri-Y header?

I had A/C, so I gutted the air pump (vanes already broken) and made it the idler pulley for the A/C belt. I would cap off any leftover end that will affect the engine.

A tri-Y header design has tubes from cyl 1 and cyl 2 connecting together creating one Y. Output of cyl 3 and cyl 4 creates a second Y. Those 2 outputs run together to create a single output, the third Y.

Y Y
.Y
..\

Another header design would be the 4-into-one.

One is better at lower rpms, the other produces more power at higher rpms.
