Hi guys.

I have a Toyota Corona 1988 St170 Manual transmission,

On the weekend I went to change the gearbox fluid and stripped the drain bolt head so couldn't get it to drain..

I removed the drivers drive shaft and let the fluid drain that way,

my question is.....

Am I getting all the gearbox fluid out when its drained through the drive shaft?
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

From having a look at the gearbox, the drain bolt is slightly lower than the drive shafts.

I removed the top bolt by the breather cap on top of gearbox and filled the gearbox fluid that way..

The filler bolt on the bottom is also stripped so the top bolt was my only way of getting fluid back in..

Please can someone help me

Thanks Marc

Take it to a shop and have them weld a 1/2" or 5/8" (or metric equivalent) hexagonal nut to the face of the drain plugs. Then you can use a regular socket to remove them, and either use them in that condition or find some non-stripped ones at a wrecking yard.
