ahhhh, that explains it. 16 yrs old...haha! Well, after you get some years experience under your belt, you'll figure out that you leave the accelerator petal floored between gears.

If you do it right, you will shift really fast and get a huge power jump between the gears....also the tach won't jump over redline. It's definitely an art....and takes some practice. You don't want to miss a shift when the accelerator is still floored. YIKES.
The most important aspect in a race is the launch. The trucks are a bit tricky to launch because there is little weight in the bed of the truck. Drop the clutch too high and you have excess wheelspin....and drop too low and it bogs. Another art to master. Well, you have some years to practice.
