The Traction/VSC won't affect acceleration unless you break contact between tire and earth.
I can tell you that my impression of the best 'feel' for the car pulling is on the highway when I am cruising in traffic at 35-45 mph and a space opens up in the left lane. I mash the pedal and pull into it. The car pulls more than my previous twin turbo I-6 after spooling up. And that car had a smooth 280 lb/ft torque curve. Of course, like someone else said, the car is meant to be refined, so it won't feel like an MR2 with a manual tranny.
It also has to do with how you drive 90% of the time since your tranny learns to adapt to your driving style. If you don't tend to usually drive with a heavy foot, then it won't be used to reacting to that type of driving and may not be as 'torquey' feeling.
