Welcome to NS. Any metal, that is not painted, will rust in this car eating province. The heat shield, due to the extreme temperature, will not stand a chance. If you look at any new car, on any lot, you'll see rust somewhere. High temp paint will extend the life span. Why the manufacturer doesn't do this, is beyond me.
