The wheel is definately a genuine momo...

And REN: With the mods Flashmn has, i think he will disagree with you - But they are boat anchors

I told him the only way to get it to go fast was to drop it off a cliff, he didn't believe me so he's still modding.

So I am coming up on a service interval and I am thinking about doing some upgrades. I just got this car a few months ago and I am not fully familiar with it. I was thinking about adding a K&N air filter element. I have heard you don't get the same kind of HP gains you do with a fuel injected engine by adding a CAI so that's why I figured just the element. I may upgrade the brake pads. I am interested in beefing up the suspension because this car plows really alarmingly. I have seen the strut brace on the SS. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

It's bee awhile since I posted anything about this car, because it has been mostly been in storage. It seems to have developed a vpor lock problem.
I took it into a garage and they said it need a new distributor and carb for $1300-1500. I am a student on a budget and don't have that kind of money to throw around. I replaced the coil, which seemed to have a bad short, and I think that fixed the ignition problem. It seems to be getting a strong spark. I replace a few other little things like the heat riser tube and the fuel filter, but it still barely starts and idles, and if it does idle long enough to warm up, it lock up.
I am looking for advice. Should I junk/sell it, buy a new carb, and hope that solves the problem, or try and rebuild the current one. Or maybe there is some other fix, fuel pump etc?
Looking for help from those more experienced with this engine.
Thanks!

Holy crap dude.. that sucks, take it to a Toyota specialist (not a dealer), probably your best bet.

Have you tried rasing the idle speed?
