I am the proud owner(no I am not being sarcastic)of a 1988 Chevy Nova, which is essentially an AE82 Corolla. I purchased this car due to it's low mileage(68,000 on an 18 year old car, not too bad), and for my girlfriend to learn to drive in(yes there are 32 year old women who can't drive...yet). I know there was an SS version of this car with the 4AGE engine in it. I downloaded the scans of the brochure I found on this site. I am wondering if anyone knows anything else about this car, and the possibility of a swap?
Thanks!
Well any front wheel drive motor from an AE Corolla can be swapped to your car, that includes the 20V motors from the AE101 and 111 Corollas, you may just have to upgrade your fuel system but it will be pretty straight forward.
Post some pics man! I had an 85 Nova back in the day.. automatic but it got me from A to B.
I will post some pics later today. I was amazed the first time I got in this car. It's really weird sitting in something from the eighties that looks almost new. Not to mention the blue racing stripes.
should be reliable, and cheap, not to bad insurance, and it can be replaced, i wonder, did you find my scans of the road and track article of the SS one?

Indeed I did! I have been trying to find that brochure. I wanted to see what the options were for the SS. I just got a Helm manual for this car. The only downside is it's a 3 speed so the gas mileage is 37 freeway which is good, but could be better. Those scans have actually been a big inspiration. Thanks!
before i had my ae102 i had an 86 ae82 like that, i too looked for the 4age powered one they have to be ridiculously hard to find, i think if it was still around id have swapped a quad carbed a 4age and jammed a late model c52 off a 93-97 rolla in there (mine was 5spd)
you can look at parts off all "A" series engines (approx 1984-1997) all the trannies will bolt up and all the engines will fit in the mounts,
the original 4A-LC is a good motor not much goes wrong other than the carbs tend to richen up with age

I took some pictures of my car today and I was going to post them. I read the FAQ, and on my posting rules it says I may NOT post attatchments. Is this because my post count is too low or something? Can I get a forum moderator to allow me to post these pictures?
Thanks!
Actually, if it's an 88 it's an AE92... not an AE82.
Attachments are not allowed to anyone anymore, you can post pics if you have uploaded them to a hosting site like www.photobucket.com then what you do is once your pics are uploaded to that site, copy the [IMG] tags on the 3rd line under the picture, then you paste that line on your post here and the pics will show up.
Okay,
I uploaded them to Photobucket, but when I copy the IMG line and then right click in the reply box to paste, the paste feature does not appear. Am I doing something wrong or is there another way to do this?
Thanks!
Hey countzero94609:
There is a nice long write up about an 88 Nova in club4ag.com. You might want to check it out. Lots of us have done either the 20v swap or the GTS swap from the 4afe. Its not hard to do. If you get a chance, look up Dr. Tweak at phoenixtuning.com and he can help you. He is one of the subject matter experts....

yes, you can copy the whole [IMG] tag line, then press your cursor on the reply box and press the CTRL and V keys on your keyboard, it should work
once you go to that page, on your left hand side you'll see another button that reads "Edit Signature", click on that and it will open a page with a reply box where you can enter anything you want to have on your sig, including pics. (pics have to be 300pixels high by 600pixels long)
