AE92 1992 Sedan project

Hello everyone, this is my project I've slowly been working on since may 2006. I've got alot more work planned for it but most important right now is getting it painted this winter. Here is whats been done to date

1988 gts motor and trans
new oem clutch and resurfaced flywheel
all new gaskets on motor and new timing belt, water pump, oil pump
trd short shifter
relocated starter to intake side
battery relocated to trunk
ghetto urathane motor mounts
header plus full exhaust to magnaflow muffler w/resanator
sway bars from gts
seats from 1989 gts (if anyone in ontario has good grey ones from a 90-91 pm me)
rear disc brake conversion
lowererd

currently working on finishing gts dash swap, not as bolt-in as I first thought but it'll get done. I'll post more pics when it gets paint.

Thanks for the comments. The lip that is in the pictures is from a 1990-1992 volkswagen golf/jetta. But you'll notice the gap in the middle cause its not quite long enough. Try one from a 1993-1998 volkswagen golf/jetta, these ones only require a slight trimming in the middle to fit nicely plus look alot nicer in my opinion.

Nice project man, you better come out to a TN meet in Toronto once the winter is gone.

That front lip looks cool. I like it, would look even nicer with the middle piece. If you have a friend that does body work he can probably fabricate the missing piece with fiberglass or something and then paint the entire lip. I like how this car has the classic corolla stance. What color will you paint it?

how long did it take you to do the dash swap? did the stearing wheel go right on, or did you have to swap the column too?

to be honest the dash swap is not complete yet and is a pain. steering wheels will interchange between fwd sedan, sr5 and gts with no problems. the one in the picture is from a sr5

I think although it's different, that dash swap will probably prove to be a bad choice.

Good job, 4doorGTS.
Document all your steps and take lots of photos. I am thinking of doing the same but without the dash.

I just got a rear sway bar too, and from the looks of things I will need to pull the gas tank straps to put it in, am I correct?

Good luck

The car is getting stripped right now and I'm welding patches in the rear shock towers and couple in the floor. Was not able to work on the car over winter, my friend ran out of room at his shop so I would have had to keep pushing it in and out but with warmer weather coming work will get done quickly.

Hopefully the car will be running again this season so I can make it out to some meets and get to know some of you. All my friends right now think I'm crazy for doing this but it will be unique and thats what this build is about. Also not many pictures were taken during the build but I'll post whats on my computer later, before and after shots.

Also picked-up some new shoes and waiting on some parts for them. I'll give a hint, I'm waiting on BlackForestIndustries for them. Teaser for now and some shots of the ae92 graveyard. The one on the far right is my dad's and the rest will be parted out soon as I'm done with mine.

Yeah I hate putting down another gts but everyone except far right is so badly rusted out. The one on the left is donating a small port for a future build. Any progress on yours Ren, I've been lurking. Ha Ha
