Anti theft system question

From looking in the engine compartment and through the factory service manual on the '89 GTS I just purchased it appears (possibly) that a previous owner attempted to wire up the anti theft system on his own after the fact. The factory manual talks about a system code that is input via the radio pushbuttons and to refer to the owners manual.

I don't have the owners manual. Can someone enlighten me on how to set a new system code for this and how to arm /disarm the alarm so I can test this system? Thanks!

I don't happen to own that kind of car, but if i were you i would go to the dealer and see if they can help me out.
