[quote=bigtrucknwheels]My manual for my A.E. 86 4A-C auto states that the maximum speed for 1st is 37 MPH and 62 For 2nd. Im sure it shifts sooner if you just put it in drive. Shift the auto by itself.

that is with it just in drive, not manually shifting anything. if i slowly accelerate it will shift sooner, if i put the pedal down it shifts quite a bit later.

"Paradise Racing also has the Paradise Racing Power Pack for the Toyota 4AC and Toyota 2/3TC engines!!! It includes a Weber 32/36 Carb Kit, Schneider Cam & Dual Valve Springs. It will provide a Dyno Proven 40hp and an improved power band up to 8,000 rpms!!!" $650

it sounds like a good way to up your power.
I've been thinking about it and I don't know if this car is worth working on. there isn't a whole lot of rust all over the car, but a few sections have rusted out quite a bit. and there's some starting to form around where the rear struts are on the inside of the cabin.
I'd love to work on a sedan AE82, but this one would require way too much body reworking...

650.. I will seriously condsider. its not that i want to mod the car, its just it needs to be able to go without bogging out or hesitating. i really would prefer a FWD corolla, as the SR 5 is RWD. Mine is the coupe. It has some cancer, but not so much that it cant be fixed reasonably. Id idealy trade someone that wanted an AE 86 for an AE 82 or AE 92. Milage is my only concern...

I bought a K&N air filter. *shrug* I needed a new air filter, and i figured I had just gotten paid so why the heck not? now I know at least that I won't have to change it again :P

there really aren't any major gains at all, not like I expected it though. I've noticed a few things though. the engine seems to respond better and more smoothly overall. idling is more smooth, and accelerating feels more solid and 'all there'. also the overall sound of the car has changed. less of an open weedwacker sound upon acceleration, sounds deeper and velvety whether accelerating or cruising. it pleases me enough to not regret buying it.

Do This!!

Do a complete upholstery (your style) and a set of nice wheels! That will make your car TOTALLY different!!! You will love yourself for doing it!! But shop hard for PRICE!!!

the upholstery is in almost perfect condition, no rips holes or burns. and I love the style it is, 70's checker plaid thing going on, and have actually gotten a few compliments on it.

I have been thinking about spraypainting my wheels. my dad did it before when we first got the car and painted them some awful neutral colors, white center with gray outer. I've been thinking of going with some kind of red scheme. red center and polished metal outer, or all red, or red and black, or just black. *shrug* haven't thought too much about it yet, and I'm leaving the country today on vacation for a few weeks.

you could do the ghetto mod and flip your air filter cover upside and tighten it down...
