Redtop 4A-GE

If I were to swap this into a motor with a regular 4A-GE (Like my '87 MR2), would there be any problems? Would I need the ECU and wiring harness from the red top or could I retain the wiring harness with the stock 4A-GE?

I know you can run the small port with the bigport ecu but it messes with the power since the big port one expects tvis to kick in, which with a small port it won't since it's not there

Ahh, I see. Ok, what about running the supercharged 4a-gze motor? It seems like that might be easier to acquire, I can get that engine from pretty much any shop, can't I?

not sure, I doubt you could run the stock bigport ecu, you would need to do wiring for that too

You'll need a GZ ecu if you plan to run a supercharger. GZ also uses many parts that differ from the GE.

My friend has as small port dropped into his 85 MR2 using the large port ECU. It runs, he passed california smog with it, but it does run rich and we are searching for a small port AFM ecu for him.

Do note, there are large port and small port "Red tops" out there, so if you're referring to the higher compression non-tvis motor, small-port is more specific.

Ok, I got it. I'm looking for a motor and ecu now, does anyone know of any engine supplier?
