Hey everyone 87 gts owner here
got the car not too long ago needed brakes so i swapped an aw11 setup 87+ over you get larger rotors and bigger pads the rear requires bearing removal so you can cut and reweld one ear of the caliper base bracket away to clear the Aw11 rotors and calipers plus you need about an inch of bar with a hole to bolt up the calipers or you can just swap over the 87+ calipers as they bolt on but use the old ae82 hardware aside from that I have been looking for lowering springs have new sw20 kyb cartirdges u front and some brand rear struts right now im doing body work as there is alot of rust and have a jdm map gze engine to drop in to low boost 9-11psi
its a slow progress i just finished my 3sgte camry and have been enjoying that I should post pics but i really want to know Ae92 springs in the front how about ae101 or ae111 and the rear no options? I want a bolt in assembly or a lowering spring that fits I dont want to buy the ebay coilover set as they are horrible and bouncy

as far as i know the fx16 can fit ae92 springs up front. i know the sedans cant but im 99% sure the twincams can.

iirc rears should be fine. i think the only real difference in the rear is different bolt spacing at the strut->carrier assembly.

ae92, 101, and 111 all have the same shit.

Rear springs are bigger on later gen Corolla (AE101). I used a AE92 GTS rear strut casing and had bolt spacing redrilled as those spring seats matched my FX16 springs. Also watch for wheel clearance, its pretty tight from back of tire to the strut casing depending on rims. Had to also use camber bolts to correct rear camber. It prob would be possible to have the hole drilled differently to have correct camber when bolted up.

Oil?

Hey everyone! Another new 87 FX16 owner. Bought the car off of a friend of my dad's who wanted to race it. The car hadn't been driven for 2 years before me.

From what I know, the guy before me changed brakes, suspension, wheels and rims, and installed a bigger intake. However, I don't know what exactly were the parts.

My question is, does anyone know how much oil it holds?

The dry fill is 3.6 quarts. The drain and refill is 3.3 quarts with filter, 3 quarts without filter. These are from the 1987 Corolla FX16 Owner's Manual from Toyota. For the 4A-GE engine.

You wish! The manual is available from Toyota though and it wasn't all that expensive as I recall. It's a reprint and was brand new. The Toyota Pub. No. is OM02403U. The full title on the cover is: 1987 Corolla FX/FX16 Owner's Manual.

Did the new brake conversion work? Better? I just had them install cross drilled ones on my FX...works great.

Does anyone know if anyone makes a rear strut bar for the FX16 GTS?

Thanks

Hey, good to see so many FX-16 oweners on this site. I'am new to it and as a matter of fact this is my first day on hear. My 87 FX-16 has a JDM 4age swap with a pace setter header, excell coil, NGK wires, NGK plugs, K&N intake filter, 2.5 no cat exhaust with a can at the end. I've hurt some other drivers fellings with it. But plan on doing the hybrid engine of the top of a 4age with the bottem half of a 7afe. It's like putting a stoker kit in, Just have to watch the rpms closer. So in all and all I plan on having the head port and polished, 5 angled valve job, agresive cams. Should have a engine that pulls strong all the way through the 1/4. Looking to turn in the low 15's or high 14's. And still get good gas millage. Keep up the good conversations, it makes for good reading...buffalohunter7321
