AE92 SR5 rear disc swap

hey guys, I helped my girlfriend do this swap on her CRX and I was wondering how tough it is to do it on the SR5. With the CRX you have to replace quite a bit of suspension (the entire rear suspension arm... thing, I forget what it's called). would I have to do the same on my SR5? and how do the e-brake cables match up? would I have to get those too?

thanks guys.

looks pretty easy on the ae92. I'm going to be doing it to mine. What I did was grab the rear subframe off a gts. with the rear hubs and all.

Now I need the porporting block on the firewall so that the rear disc brakes will work properly. That and rear calipers, pads, and disc

I've never heard of a proportioning block. Is it just a little do-dad that the brake line goes through and adjusts the pressure? where is it located?

EDIT: someone needs to write exactly what you need and make it a sticky.

it's really easy to find

It's on the firewall and all the brake lines go to it

bringing the thread back from a while ago because I'm still not 100% sure what I need...

do I really need the whole rear subframe? or can I just get the hubs and bolt them up to the suspension arms?

ok, so aparently I'm retarded and totally missed the part in the brake sticky about this swap...

so yeah, if anyone searches and finds this thread here's an excerpt from the sticky:

AE92 REAR

1.) If you have drums you can bolt on the standard AE92 rear discs, which are the same as the (Jap-spec) AE92 levin GTZ rear discs.

To do this conversion you will need to source the follwoing parts -

- Both rear discs
- Both rear calipers
- Both rear hubs / uprights
- Both rear flexible brake lines
- Both sides of the handbrake cable
- Most importantly it is very important when buying the parts for this conversion (assuming it's off a wrecked SX Corolla) you will need to get the two rear most suspension arms from the wreck as the suspension bushes are different. If you cannot get these arms for whatever reason bushes can be made up to enable the hubs from the SX to be fitted to the suspension arms of the non-SX. Steve Williamson or Jason Purcell can guide you as to where to go to get this done as they have both done it themselves in Brisbane.

NOTE however that by going from drums to discs at the back you may affect brake bias and may need to have the "crack point" of your bias valve altered (by a professional) by changing it's internal springs to suit the discs. Adjustable bias valves are illegal on the roads (at least they are in Australia).

thanks for writing that up freakinbox.

also, by rear 2 suspension arms, do you mean one on each side or the rear 2 on each side?
