corolla '92 w/2E

I have a Japanese version of this car, it's got a 2E carb engine, and the engine is good, is not burning oil, no noticeable emissions (blue/black smoke)...

I have 2 issues with it:

1. I don't know why, but the car is "spitting" coolant via the overflow tank. I noticed the car is not sucking the coolant from the OF tank, instead is just blowing away everything from the radiator when the car is starting/is on the operating temp. I took the little hose that goes from the radiator to the OF tank and it was actually blowing! all I did recently was change the top most hose, that blew away, also the water pump is running good, judging by the flow inside the radiator when I remove the cap and the car is running. because of this, I disconnected the control cable to the fan, so fans are now running all the time, because I dont want the car to be overheating all the time, but now, the car is too cold

2. I'm having problems with rought running too, I changed myself all spark plugs and cables, some of them were corroded nonetheless, but it didn't help too much. in the morning when the car is cold, it behaves like if not all of the cilinders are igniting After a minute or so, the engine is runs smooth, but when the car is getting hotter because of the 1st. issue described, the engine starts to run rought, so I believe it is related, because the carb was serviced a few months ago, and never had a problem with it.

until now, what I have done is:
-changed the top most radiator hose (it blew away, was too old).
-changed spark plugs and wires (distribuitor cap change on the way too).

I'm not willing you will let me to reapair the engine myself, but at least know where could be the problem.

any thoughts are welcome, thanks for looking!

Angelo

You either have a bad radiator cap, or more likely, a bad head gasket.

I was thinking the same, but, I got this engine rebuilt last december, and they changed all that stuff. Could it be that the gasket went bad when the car got overheated when the hose blew?? I wasn't on the car, other person was driving it, and she didn't told me how much time she drive it until I got her call...

god, if this is true, then it is going to be a expensive repair, so what about getting another engine??
