I've seen some AE92's with 17" rims (205/40-17 Tire Size). When I got the 17" rims with 205/40 17 tires and put them on my corolla, the inside corner of the rear tires rubbed on the bottom spring plate on the strut. The front are fine, but need stiffer springs. How doIalleviate the rubbing problem in the rear?
There's quite a few guys running 17s with 205/40 series tires, you could probably get away with running 45 series tires with the right offset.
My old wheels were 15x7 with a 38mm offset, and they just cleared the wheel well and the strut by about a finger's worth of gap! my current wheels have about the same gap left, but these are 15x6.5.
SCT, what is the width of the wheels you bought? Please don't say 17x7.5 as this may also be the cause.
ren comming from a guy with 16x7 rims on his car and 205 45 tires, a 17 with a 45 sidewall wouldn't even bolt on. Check my rear suspension and tire clearance next time you see my car, you can't get your FINGER between the tire and spring mount.
Nice thing about the rear is you can put larger offset than the front and still have them covered by the stock flares.
