I am looking to replace the majority of the exhaust system on my 2000 Prizm next spring. I need to get new motor mounts first, but then I will work on the exhaust. I'd like to know what options I have as far as exhaust systems besides just putting all OEM parts on it again. I'd like something a little nicer, but I don't want the car to sound rediculous or ricey. Can anyone tell me who makes cat-back or any other types of systems for 98-02? Also, what kind of setups do you guys have on your cars. Obviously I could buy separate aftermarket pieces and have them installed, but I'm worried how the whole thing will sound when its done. Let me know what you guys think Thanks.
FinalGear, That's why I figure I might as well get a Performance exhaust, but who makes a good performance exhaust for the 98-02? Like I said, I don't want anything too ricey. I'd like a little deeper tone, but nothing crazy. I'm tempted to just replace the whole thing, cause since my motor mounts broke, I've had several problems with the manifold leaking, and the o2 sensors are bad, soo once I figure out what options I have, we'll see how much I can replace at once
The kick in the face is replacing all those bolts, gaskets and the stupid catalytic converter those alone will bite your wallet! As far as name brand, I just go with the rice stuff (affordable).....Most of the genuine name brand stuff are just OVER PRICE (they're made from the same materials).
The WORST THING that you can do is go to a muffler shop and have them bend pipes for you...........your car will be LOUD.....2.25 pipes are LOUD..I know because I did it!!!!!
PLAN, PLAN, RESEACH, RESEACH, before doing your exhaust set-up!!!
I saw the magnaflow cats on ebay for like 70 bucks. What size pipe should I go with and what is the stock pipe diameter? I imagine I'll end up using a stock manifold, since i don't see very many good options there. I don't want something that will need to be replaced in a couple years again. Is there any cat back kits for the 98-02

i know of one site that sales headers for 98-01 corolla but there from a company ive never heard of before.
dont listen to anything final gear says, its pretty much all wrong. Go to a shop and have them build you a system thats 2.25 in big with a cat, resonator and muffler. That should be fine.
Just make sure you tell them NOT to weld your exhaust headers to your Catalytic Converter and your Catalytic Converter is not weld onto your mid-pipe and the mid pipe weld is not weld on to your muffler.....your motor will rip the STARRBERRY out of your exhaust system... Ask them kindly to make them into bolt-ons....the resonator will have to be weld into the mid-pipe...
So if I have a stock manifold, which I assume has an outlet smaller than 2.25, and a cat and a muffler tha are also made for stock pipe, what good will the 2.25 pipe do? Wouldn't you want the outlet on the manifold and all the other parts to match?

I don't think you should mess with the intake manifold yet... The 2.25 pipe, other then rice sounds and the extra 5 ponies powers , the air flow is better and you'll feel the differences.
