2002 Corolla 4 spd automatic - electronically controlled?

Hello...just wondering if anyone knows if the 4 speed automatic in a 2002 Corolla is electronically controlled. I am asking for two reasons:

1. It says on the dipstick to use Dexron II or III fluid. That is not a synthetic fluid, and I am pretty sure that all electronically controlled transaxles use synthetic fluid.

2. It is shifting fairly hard between each gear and I am getting the fluid flushed/filled on Monday and I want to make sure they are putting in the correct fluid. Also, if it is NOT electronically controlled, I am wondering if I should take it to a Toyota shop for adjustment.

Any help would be appreciated...

It is electronically controlled. And it does use Dexron III - that's right, not synthetic. Try a drain and fill as you planned.
