Angry 88 Corolla FX Idle Problems

Need some help, advice, or new perspective. A few weeks ago my 88 Corolla FX, sohc carb, automatic, with 30k miles on it started acting strange at idle under load (as in sitting at a red light) the engine would randomly act as if it wanted to stall out and the oil pressure light would come on every time the engine would lobe after it reached operating temp. Investigation lead to blown head gasket. Replaced that and hoped for the best. Problem came back. Gave up and took it to local Toyota dealer. I was told that it needed a new carb and they could not get one and the oil pressure sender has a short in it. I thanked them and paid the diagnostic charge. Now the charge and brake idiot lights come on and the emission control relay clicks. I sprayed some carb cleaner down the throat and it helped a little with the oil light but the other lights and sounds I can't get any info to start tracking. I plan on removing the carb and emptying the can of carb cleaner on it. Does anyone out there have any ideas on the next move? It has aggravated me to the edge of insanity.

I would look at the charging system. The charge and brake lights will often come on when the alt is starting to crap out. Had This happen on camry, ae92 gts, tercel.

If you cant figure it out, you can always give me the fx so i can put this redtop i have in it. j/k

good luck
