you need to cvchange the complete under car , suspension spindel , rear transaxe, gaz tank , and the dloee on the passager side will need modification .
but the AWD have a diff look that make it possible to have only the rear weel drive .
you've said your not experienced with this, DON'T DO IT, at least not on a daily driver, there are structural issues you have to address, such as the fact that the car is made to be FWD so it'll pull from the front, its not used to having pressure being ALSO placed from the back. You could have serious frame restructuring that you don't intend to do (such as crumple after you get to a certain pressure)
My 91 wagon (4wd) has a giant lump on the passenger side floor, my 90 corolla fwd sedan did not, this alone tells me that the body/chassis is somewhat different and reinforced in different places.
I'm all for people learning, but learn whats going to happen and what needs to be done prior to doing it. EVERYONE dreams of the coveted AWD/4WD conversion to a FWD/RWD, RWD is easier to do as its already got structure for RWD, but its costly.
Grab yourself a 4WD/AWD chassis and go from there, its a lot of work, but why risk your life when you can enjoy the finished product

hmm... speaking of which, if u were to make a corolla alltrac rwd by lockin the centre diff would u lose power? as the power distribution is 70% front 30% rear wouldnt u lose 70% of ur power to the wheels?

Its not going to crumple, there isnt _that_ much power. The lump on the floorboard is for the muffler, as the center tunnel is occupied by the cardan shaft.
to the other guy who was saying to make it RWD, well yes thats possible, but with the stock engine configuration thats stupid, because the transmission link to the back is weaker, plus you're going to run into problems with the differentials. Better then to start drastic mods and put the engine longitudinal and fabricate a proper transmission tunnel.
I have researched this question when i still had my AE101, and found that there are some major issues that need to be addressed. They are:
Firstly, you need to find an alltrac gearbox plus tailshaft plus differential.. on top of this you need to find rear hubs too.. All of this needs to come from an AE92 4wd sedan.
The second thing is the exaust system - they are routed differently (on the AE101 at least) - so this would need to be custom designed or pinched from another alltrac.
Also - you will need a saddle design fuel tank. These again will need to be taken from another alltrac AE92 or custom fabricated (Costly and a pain to get right!)
So the long and short of it is that once you have found a donor Alltrac AE92 - You may as well buy that and restore it.
In answer to your 70/30 question, it just means that 70% of the total power from the gearbox is distributed to the front wheels and 30% is distributed to the rear - it doesnt mean you lose any power...
