Replace 1zzfe with a 4age from an ae92??

Sorry if the info is somewhere in the forum, but I couldn't find any for this odd swap. The reason I ask is that I have a decent 4age sitting in a rotted out Prizm GSI. It has less than 80K miles on the engine.I also have this 98 Corolla le that eats the oil.So.. If it is not too messy I might consider the swap. I don't want a racer, just a reliable car.I know, too bad it's not a year older, but those aren't the cards in my hand.Thanks...

Pretty messy. You'll need tranny, ECU, wiring harness. Probably axles also. Another problem is speedo. Old car use cable driven and new one use electrical.

My vote is on selling your decent 4AGE.

OK... Anybody near Michigan's Upper Peninsula interested in a 4age?This motor is all stock and had a new timing belt just before the donor crashed. It is relatively low miles under 80K and is attached to a 4sp auto(190K). I also have a good clutch plate that came with it off a 5spd. It's in a 90 Prizm GSI( red /gray interior, good trunk lid /factory spoiler). Hear it run.Its an all or nothing offer. I'll throw in the old motor, (good head but apart). The fall colors are at their peak, see da UP in its glory. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

I'll add another vote for selling your good engine and picking up a bone yard engine. You shouldn't have too much problem finding another yooper that could use the engine.

I did a quick check on www.car-part.com for my area and found a bunch of engines for around $500-$600. The only issue is you don't know how long the used engine will run without problems.

one how much are u willing to sell it for??? I think a fair price is $600
two where u live exactly??? I live near Munising Mich.
three wat king of 4age motor is it??? It goes in an ae 92, its a 116 hp version 16 valve, same block as the schmansy ones.
The colors are fantastic right now. If anyone is serious, give me your e-mail address and we'll talk turkey. Thanks...
If I'm way off on the price of the engine , someone guide me in what a fair price is. Please don't insult me with a greedy response.
Frank

I gandered there too. There's this little voice in my head saying bad rings in all of them.Cherry auto gives a 6 month warranty and offers up to a 2 yr. warranty though.Bad rings should show up before then...I hope! A 900 mile round trip and all the labor of removal and replacement still makes for high cost risk. If I was a rich man I would drop one of those race 1zzfe's in my car and have some fun.
If I had a bell housing from an early corolla gts I would not even consider selling the 4age. I'm building a Locost and the 4age is the perfect engine.
