Differential Fill Plug

On a 1992 Corolla, 3 sped automatic, who has found a good way to get at, and remove the fill plug on the differential? From underneath with a box wrench, from straight back with a socket and u-joint or from the top? There doesn't seem to be any straight shot at it.

I was going to ask the same thing.

Im trying to remove the fill plug on my 97 Corola 3spd automatic.

There is no room to work with.

Let me know if you get it out and what you did.

When i did mine I used a box wrench but can't remember if I loosensed it from the top or underneath. I do remember reinstalling the plug from the top and it is by feel alone and there is barely enough room to fit your hand in that area.

On the AE92 AT, it works to use a "offset" box wrench that has a slight bend on the end of handle so the wrench can fit into the slight depression around the plug. I found a double ended box wrench at autozone that worked. It had a different style offset at each end. The end that I thought would work did not, but the other end did.
