On 4AC's...

I ask cuz I'm interested in getting a old AE82 sedan. I have some kinda vision for it... theres a ton of em in the junkyard and not too many people work with them. I would ask club4ac but it seems that the message board is vacant or something cuz they're not accepting my registration.

ok well...

the engine is 90 hp i think... but that doesn't necessarily mean it's weak and slow for a daily driving does it? I think it's 90hp at like 3000 rpms.... i think some 4age's are 115 hp but that's not until like near redlines if im not mistaken. Isn't the Yaris about only 90 hp?

I remember driving one and it being pretty peppy... but I didn't know what engine it had in it. Is this motor pretty quick and responsive for daily driving terms? As in, it's quick but not in racing terms...

another question... does this motor have some kind of potential to it? Those guys that have that 8 second ae86 sell cams and motor stuff for the 4AC, and then someone had the idea to open up a forum just for 4ac's...

I believe 4AC's are 60hp, not 90hp.. they're slow, specially in automatic trim.

I drove an AE82 Nova for a while, then sold it for $800 and the guy that bought it off me drove it for about a year till the tranny gave up.

4acs are like 60 ish hp at the wheels, mid 80's at the fly i believe. they do have some potential, nothing crazy but they do have some, if your wanting to make more power. the kit paradise racing sells comes with a weber 32/36 carb, schneider 288* cam (iirc), and double valve springs (rated to 8000rpms i believe). they promise a 40 hp gain, which really isnt a long shot, considering its a california emissions engine, so adding a more aggressive intake and cam will yeild good gains for the money. other then that, your looking at soem sort of forced induction and such. what im planning on doing with my old 4ac is mating it to a smallport 4age bottom end (just because im curious to see what itll do). really itll just be a learning experience, that im not planning on spending any real money on, just a backyard special frankenstien, and if it pops, no loss.

hey man my name is shane and i run club4ac. first i would like to apologize for the inconvenience of that registering system. the site was extremely outdated. i fried my computer so i wasnt able to register anyone. however if youre still looking for more info on the 4ac please head back over to the site. Ive changed it from www.club4ac.com to www.toyotapowered.com

I had to start fresh so theres not much content on toyotapowered.com yet but we're working on that. If you want to view club4ac.com i still have it up you just have to go to www.toyotapowered.com/old/

theres still some great information there and we have some pretty awesome members. again sorry about the hassle for you man. thanks

shaner- toyotapowered.com

i have a 4ac myself i love it.
