ae86 - Whats the purpose of this hose?

Just picked up his hachi and trying to get it started. Seller claims it will start with a new battery, and move with a new clutch. i have the battery in and so far so good.
it almost turns over and fires but just gets cought. Im going to pick up some gasoline right now, but looking for answers to this hose pic in the meantime.
Whats this hose purpose?

it looks like a coolant hose i would guess for the heater track it and see if it goes thorough the firewall if so then you have your answer

looks like a breather hose...but its a bit hard to make out where it goes, because someone painted it over with blue :P

It's a suction tube of the Air suction filter (emission Control Stuff) and it only available for US, my Canadia 83 Corolla with 4ac didn't have it.

Prob. a little late now but its just an air hose, runs down to that canister above the starter and continues down to the right side of the cat. converter..basically blows cool air into the converter.
