ae82 potential...

hey guys, i kno this is a pretty open question and an accurate answer cant really be given but roughly how much power above stock would a 4ac powered ae82 with a webber downdraught, extractors and a 2 inch exhaust give u?... im trying 2 think of a decent little toy 2 play with and i reckon that would be pretty sweet (stripped out interior, susp mods etc...)

webber d/d and a schneider cam (with valve springs) makes 40+ hp on a 4ac (so ive heard). you can also mount your 4ac head to a smallport 4ag block to add some compression and a better bottom end. its like a half-engine swap, basically bolts up, and you dont have to mess with an EFI conversion or anything.

hmm thats a pretty big increase in power... would swapping the 4ac head with a 4af head make much difference? or just allow for higher revs due to the twin cam nature?

im sure you'd gain something, but i couldnt tell you what kind of increase youd get. really the bottom end it what limits the rev-ability.

For the price Id say just swap in a basic 4age. You could slap one in there for about 2-400 bucks start to finish if you can do the work yourself (or get some friends who know how to work on cars).
