AE86 overall..

Lookin at new job opportunities which require me to have a DD and possibly sell my motorcycle.. I've liked AE86's as long as I can remember, before I ever knew about that initial D thing.. anyways never had the funds to pick one up cause I was younger now if I sell my motorcycle i'm gonna be pissed but I've wanted a corolla for as long as I can remember.. so overall.. How easy is it to get parts for this car seeing as its gettin old? overall these cars can be used as daily drivers but would you suggest it? I know about corolla's and i've admired them from afar but if I'm gonna dot his I wanna do it right so I'm lookin for honest opinions.. a good idea for a daily driver or more of a weekend project?

To be honest they are a pain in the ass to get parts for. Because they are not that common regardless of the fact that you will tell the parts guy or shop that the car is RWD they will send you FWD parts first all the time. It's a slow car but it is a lot of fun to drive. If you are going to use it as a daily driver expect to spend a decent amount of coin on up keep every year (at least $4,000) because the parts are old and will brake down.

Whatever thats not even true... my AE86 gives me no trouble at all other than the regular maintenence things like brakes...oil blah blah blah ..... the car isnt at all prone to breaking down.... i dunno what your driving is like but 4000$$$ is wayyyy over shot, unless the shop is ripping you a new one when you go get it fixed... i do all my own work so Free labour

everyone has different experiences driving these cars, the majority of people will tell you the same though.. don't buy it if you think its a reliable daily driver because it won't be.

Its just to risky to rely on a AE86 just because its a corolla. there is lots of aftermarket support ever since the drift scence came about. Parts are not that hard to get. Just be very specific of your car since many people in general think its a FF car like the civic. but its a car that is 20 year old plus. But it can be a good car with lots of repairs. later on its worth it
