USA '86 corolla Won't stay running in Drive

new fuel pump, re-built carb, new fuel filter, new wires, new plugs, new rotor button, new cap, new coil, just started to run like crap after all this. will stay running when put in reverse. intermitant miss, stumbles on initial throttle up and then snorts and bucks till it reaches high enough revs then it will keep running but still with interminant miss, backfires a little, checked/replaced all vacume hoses to vacume advance. need to perform Ether check. Put in fuel treatment and filled take with preimum gas. NOTHING is working. N E sugestions?

Did you do all this in one day or something? If not, at what point did it start running like crap?

either its a fueling problem or an ignition problem. I'm thinking the latter.

All new things that have been installed were done prior to it starting to run like crap 'cept the new vac hoses going to the vac advance. I went after work and retrived it and when I started it it ran like it did last night then cleared up. Drove it home and it ran like a toyota does. Just humming along. I think the STP fuel treatment and the premium gas hopefully remedied the problem. If it starts to run like crap again before I get gas again then I'll know the problem is not fuel. But then again it could be in the delivery of the fuel and/or ignition problems. Have anyone of you heard about a vac diaphram having an intermitant prob? I can't see a timing prob that fixes itsself. Maybe trash in carb but I just recently rebuilt it and the filter is really flowing fuel fine. The fuel treatment had all night to sit and do its job. Maybe when I started it the last bit of fuel that was bad in the carb got flushed out and the treated gas is now flowing thru it. Who knows!!
