85 corrolla, need input

hello, I am a new guy to these forums but i love cars (mostly muscle but i love some imports) and i recently obtained a 1985 toyota corrolla GT-S 2door coupe for free. and since ive liked these cars since i was 8 years old (parents had one before they sold it for a minivan 6 years ago) and im wondering if this car is just gonna be a money hole?? i have tried to look around on the internet and i have seen that JDM racing motors can sell me a JDM 4AGZE MR2 Supercharger for this car. now im also curious if it will fit into a 85 corrolla since it only says 86-90 but mine is a 85

id appreciate some input on this subject please

incase you dont feel like reading...

would a JDM 4AGZE MR2 Supercharger (motor and transmission included) fit inside a 85 corrolla even though it says 86-90. ive tried to contact the owner but i think he miss understood my question.

will this car be just a money hole?

thanks. Steve-o

It should just drop right in. It's the same block as the engine that is already in there (4A). The only difference is that the 4A-GZE really had is that it has a super charger on it. A lot of people have already done this swap. And I don't see why you need a JDM motor when the engine was available over here in the MR2.

well thats the thing.. i was looking at the motor, and the hood has been open for a long while and the spark plug wires and spark plugs have been remove or thrown out to the side.. and since i live in wyoming we have snow and dirt and wind and then a heavy heat front.. so snow could of have gotten in there and melted ruining the motor.. but since i havent had a chance to rip down the block and check inside of it, but my assumption that the motor is shot. and is gonna need to be replaced based on my knowledge.

more input please

AE86

Money hole???? yes... swaps arent cheap to do... easier for you because its already a GTS mines a SR5 so its gunna be harder for me... as for the 4AGZE it will drop in but i think some rewireing is needed im not sure if the harnesses are the same and if its plug and play for the ecu I doubt it but its worth a try... but after the car is done itll be alot of fun to drive.

ok.. so you all say that its gonna be a money hole? why do you say that its gonna be a money hole?? is the resell value on this car lower than the next year??

i appreicate your input, but im trying to recall from memory and the engine in it might already be a 4agze or 4agse or something like that. i can go take another look at it and make sure..

more input please

edit : ok, so let me get this straight.. would this car be classified as an AE86 or would it be something totaly different >_<. im a total idiot when it comes to imports so please bare with me.

no the resale value on an AE86 is really good considering the age... people pay good money for these cars if theyre in good shape and as original as possible...money hole just plainly because old car... and like i already said engine swaps arent cheap... AE86's never came with the GZE engines they have 4AGE engines or the 4AC in the case of the SR5 models... A 1986 Corolla GTS hatchback or coupe doesnt matter is and AE86 BUT it has to be RWD... is it FWD or RWD. by the way... no such thing as a 4AGSE

see i knew i was close to the engine the 4AGE.. but i cant remember cuz its been almost 2-3 days since i looked at the motor and i hardly looked at it throughly at that.. but like i said, im a idiot when it comes to import cars. it is RWD btw and the rearend is gonna have to be rebuilt. you can tell by the stance of it. i am gonna try my darnest to get some pics going. once again. thanks for your input and every little bit goes to helping me figure out weather or not to keep the car and see if its truely worth it.

thanks!
