need some help

so, i recently bought an ae85 coupe sr5. i already know the motor is the 3A carb'd motor, and the rear brakes are drums, and the transmission is a steel-cable tranny, and the rear diffy is a 6.38" instead of a 6.7". what i need help with is figuring out what else differs this car from an ae86. basically, im trying to convert from ae85 and make it an ae86 (and the motor will be swapped anyway). please and thankyou

You sure its an AE85, because those were japan only. US versions are AE86 with a 4A-C engine and the transmission doesnt have cables, only cable goes to the clutch, because those are FWD only.

almost positive its an ae85 unless the ae86 came with drums in the rear as an option. i mean, the chassis code says ae86 but i heard that the ae85 says the same thing.

AE85 chassis code Corollas were never officially imported here in the US. Main difference between the two is as you mentioned is the cable actuated clutch and the 3A motor. What you have in your possesion is an AE86 chassis code Corolla. Look at the firewall at the passenger side by the heater valve, it will read AE86-XXXXXXX. AE86 chassis code Corollas did come with drum brakes(SR5 trim with the 6.38" diff and 4AC) and disc brakes(GT-S trim with the 6.7" diff and 4AGE).
