stumble and hesitation

Got a bunch of yotas but really only 1 with a problem, ok its an 86 corolla le fwd, auto...should I stop now? when attempting to start have to pump gas pedal 10-14 times, sometimes less and sometimes more. once started idles great and runs good about 33mpg, anyways upon accelerating the vehicle will stumble, hesitate and really just fall on its face. Only happens really the first couple time you put the pedal down. This one sure doesn't run like the gt-s..I hate carbs!!! anyone got any ideas?

The Choke is not closing. Take the air cleaner cover off and check to see if it closes when you step on the gas when the engine is cold. It maybe stuck spray and clean with carb cleaner.

Thanks for the tip, I'll give it a shot. I was going to give the carb a good cleaning just so cold here right now. Anyhows thanks again.
